Some useful tools for working on and adjusting your steel guitar
are shown above.
Starting from the Left to the Right, we have a set of Allen Wrenches
with ball ends. These make it easier to get in at some of the set
screws on guitars because you can use them at an angle, as well
as straight-on.
Next, we have some Ignition Wrenches. You will find these are useful
for tightening nuts on your steel. Typical useful sizes in INCHES:
5/16, 3/8, and 1/4.
In the middle, is a Screwdriver with removable tips. This is a
handy tool to have because whatever you need tighten or loosen,
you can buy a tip. Also, if the tip breaks or strips out, you can
just replace it.
Neat things which are optional: Nut Drivers are good for removing
nuts. While a complete set is not necessary, a 1/2- inch nut driver
is very useful for removing jack and tone control nuts. T-Handled
Allen Wrenches are useful with pull bar screws, as are Ball-Tipped
Screwdriver type handled Allen Wrenches.
Not shown and very useful: Soldering Iron, Long-Nose Pliers, and
Wire Cutter & Strippers. These are necessary when changing pickups,
switches, and tone & volume controls.
