Assembling Your Steel Guitar

Next, remove the pedal rods from the leg bag.

Nearly all builders number the pedal rods. The numbers can be on clips that attach to the rod, stickers that are place on the bottom of the quick-release connector, or stamped into the rod or nut that locks the rod on the quick release connector.

Each number matches a specific rod to a specific pedal. The reason for numbering the pedal rods is because pedals are typically adjusted to different heights for easier playing. This is especially true for the E9th tuning.

The number "1" is matched to the first pedal; number "2", the second pedal; and so forth.

NOTE: The first pedal (pedal number "1") is the pedal closest to the keyhead end of the guitar.
